Hey! I’m Junia, and welcome to The June Photo.
I’m a Boston and Minneapolis-based photographer specializing in theater headshots and performance imagery. My work focuses on creating images that highlight the individuality, presence, honesty, and authenticity of every single person who steps in front of my lens. I’m a raised performer who directs, produces, and performs theater — a background that shapes everything I do behind the camera. Having worked onstage and in production, I understand the physical and emotional needs of dancers and theater makers: how movement reads in a single frame, how costumes and props behave under lights, how an actor’s intent translates into portrait and performance shots. That insider perspective helps me anticipate timing, suggest poses that feel authentic, and create images that serve both artistic and practical goals — casting submissions, promotional materials, rehearsal documentation, and archival work. My approach blends technical skill with empathy for the performer’s process, so the photos not only look strong but also feel true to the work. Whether you’re preparing for auditions, building your portfolio, or capturing a live performance, my goal is to create photographs that feel true to who you are—not just what you look like. I believe the most compelling images are rooted in intention, trust, and the freedom to show up fully as yourself.
